Knowledge of This Course

i've learned that the world revolves around media. the media is around us everyday, for example television and the internet is where most people get their information from. These two devices are becoming more compact and more usable anywhere. But the media can become time consuming, from social networking, or just spending too much time on the internet can be a hassle for people. we need to learn how to manage our time to entertain ourselves and focus on our priorities. This class has tought me that the media can be educational to the next generation, because the technology is increasing and teachers are learning how to teach through it. which means the learning system in the future will be more hands on instead of students being lectured for a long period of time. This class has helped me look at technology and the media more closely instead of just for entertainment. people need to learn to not be so gullable and believe everything they see or hear from media related things. Sometimes the pubic lies to sell products.

REALISM:

"I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that's precisely why I succeed."
                                                                                       - Michael Jordan
This quote is "real" to me because what he is saying is that he wasn't perfect, he had to fail a couple of times to fix his mistakes. in order for him to fix his mistakes he had to practice harder, and when you now look back on MJ's career you can see how he improved in order to win 6 championships.

MEDIA OWNERSHIP:

One of the biggest Media Companies in the world right now is Apple. The reason I say this, is because of it's impact on our everyday technology.here are some products by apple that we use: the Iphone, Ipod, Ipad, & Mac Books. These products help us to interact socialy, work at a faster pace, or entertain ourselves. Some Products that they help put out are "Apps" which are downloadable programs that can be used to do anything, it just depends on which kind you are looking for. Apple has helped Dr. Dre's "Beats By Dre" headphone company blow up by advertising it with their phones and and putting out a great sound quality on their apple devices.

Interview Parent

I interviewed my step-mom on what my half-sister (4 years old) is able to watch or use media related. She said that in order for my sister to watch tv they have to be educational, for example my half-sister can watch "Nick Jr." because those are nothing but educational cartoons for toddlers. If she wants to play video games, then she has her leapfrog leap pad which are educational learning games. But my Step-mom also puts her in other activities like dancing, karate, cheerleading etc... So she isn't always in the house. basically my step-mom said it's all on the parent and how they choose to raise their child.

(snob, stuck up, not that smart, gets away with alot due to her looks)

stereotype photos

( crazy, insane, been to prison, stays in trouble, worships satin)(gangster, criminal, smokes weed, drinks alcohol, sells drugs)

Stereotype

Most of some people's conclusions about others is usually from how they were raised and what they were taught if they see someone with a certain "swagger". But now in today's generation alot of stereotyping has cut down. for example their are more interracial couples, because people are realizing that racism is ignorant and it shouldnt matter what COLOR your skin is if you want to be with someone. Another example is people with tattoo's, before if you had a tattoo you were considered a "THUG" or you've been to prison but people never knew the real truth about your body art and today alot of people have tattoo's and they are big tattoo's too and others don't see people as criminals or thugs. its a way of expression.

"To what degree do I consider myself a native?" :(Digital Natives) A phrase popularized by Mark Prensky that describes today's students and there approach to technology. "Our students today are all "native speakers" of the digital language of computers, video games and the Internet." I have been using and introduced to this new technology of the 20th/21st century since I was little and it plays a major role in my everyday life from making and emergency phone call or just to entertain myself. I would consider myself an in between major and minor digital native because I can live without some of these things it won't kill me but at the sametime the use of this technology makes things alot easier to do than in the past.
